Quality of care in Family Planning (FP) ensures clients ease to informed choices. The availability of different method mix of FP is the key for contraceptive usage without interruption. Considering the huge demand for long term FP services Pathfinder International in collaboration with MOH and its implementing partners introduced a service based training which was aimed at giving proper skill for the provider and serving needy clients during the training of providers. Between June 2004 to March 2007 over 500 providers were trained and long term FP services provided to over 40,000 clients during training period. Over 50,000 clients were served through routine services following the training. The assessment of the service based training approach and results during and after training have shown that unmet need for the specific methods were fulfilled through the provision of services during training and initiation of routine services in facilities with trained providers.
